“The Anat Baniel Method allows my daughter to continuously reach and redefine her potential: physically, cognitively, and emotionally. It is awe-inspiring to watch these transformations unfold, and to see the joy and inspiration on my child’s face as her body and her relationship with the world organize themselves in a whole new way. It is my hope that someday all special needs children and their parents will have access to this work and its benefits. This Method has not only transformed my daughter, but our entire family.”

Did You Know? A Child with Cerebral Palsy Needs a Great Variety of Movements to Learn and Develop

A typically developing child will experience lots of spontaneous movements, experimenting and trying a lot of variations which are appropriate to his or her current level of development. There is a long process of random movements, experimentation, a huge amount of variations, and lots of failures before a new skill is learned.

Cerebral palsy is an injury to the brain that interferes with the spontaneous process of movement development. A child with cerebral palsy needs “aimless,” random, and hugely varied movements and experiences in order to learn and develop.

By trying to make a child with cerebral palsy to do what she or he can’t, we deny the child the spontaneous experimentation that all children need to develop successfully.

NeuroMovement®: An Alternative Approach with Tools for Children to Become Brilliant Learners

With NeuroMovement®, we provide your child with the many variations and experiences her brain needs in order to begin creating new patterns and possibilities. Often in our work, the child with cerebral palsy becomes a brilliant learner and the seemingly miraculous begins happening.

Current brain research validates that the “impossible” can become possible for many children with cerebral palsy. Movement becomes pleasurable, they want to move, their thinking and academic abilities improve, and they feel empowered and much happier.

Over 30 years, we have observed again and again how the brain has the ability to create successful solutions to challenges, if given the information that it needs.

Often in our work, we see the child with cerebral palsy become a brilliant learner and the seemingly miraculous begin to happen.

“Something great happened yesterday. My son walked out of the screened porch, down the stairs, over the brick path and across the bumpy lawn to help me plant tomatoes. This was no small feat. Twelve years ago doctors had told me that Phillip may never walk or talk.”

—Judith, Phillip’s Mom

One of our Practitioners Received This Message from the Dad of a 5-Year-Old Russian Girl with Cerebral Palsy:

He said that his daughter had such severe spasticity that it was making her scream and cry in pain a lot of times, that in five years of her life she never slept longer than a few hours, because pain and discomfort would wake her up….

Then he said they’ve started implementing NeuroMovement principles, trying to help her relax in many little different ways…instead of stretching and moving her. And he said in just three weeks, she is able to relax her legs now and that she sleeps without crying or waking up through the whole night.”

Kids Beyond Limits

“Building a more effective and more powerful brain requires us to start where the child is, and where that brain is right now.”
